Minnesota Elk Company encompasses about 100 acres of fenced pasture and has been designed to accomodate, primarily, a bull herd. The ranch itself overlooks the legendary Heron Lake Watershed which is famous for its waterfowl hunting. The sunset view of elk grazing the west facing slope as ducks, geese, pheasants and wild deer move around the ranch is breath-taking. Reaching the ranch is very easy as we are located only a few blocks off Highway 60 south of Windom, MN 5 miles in a small village called Wilder. Minnesota Elk Company specializes in velvet antler harvest and marketing. The handling facilities at Minnesota Elk Company are built with the velvet industry in mind. We have a walk-in freezer with immediate access from a very sanitary antler removal area. This facility is custom-built with safe, efficient animal handling techniques incorporated. Taylor Elk Ranch
Taylor Elk Ranch was formed in 1996 with a foundation herd of 36 cows. Today the herd numbers over 300 head with a breeding cow herd of nearly 150. This beautiful ranch is situated in the Des Moines River Valley just south of Windom, MN. The ranch encompasses over 220 acres of fenced pasture and modern handling facilities. The ranch home is a beautiful, log-sided structure overlooking 2 ponds that are home to a plethora of wildlife and colorful waterfowl. The bugling of elk bulls and chirping of cows and spring calves just further adds to the ambience of it all.
At the Taylor Elk Ranch, we believe that management is the key to success in any venture, especially an elk ranch. We have extensive record-keeping and have developed lines that demonstrate the value of these records. We are very active in voluntary herd-health monitoring programs such as the TB and CWD herd programs. We utilize a strong artificial breeding program that allows us to continually add the best market genetics to the best of our natural genetics.
