Sire: Amos

Amos is the first bull ever born on Taylor Elk Ranch. He is our best hard antler bull to date and could be vying for a championship this year at competition. We purchased Amos's mother in a group of cows from Gary Hill. Gary had rented a son of Junior from Jerry Perkins for breeding in 1995. This breeding has resulted in a number of good bulls for Taylor Elk Ranch, including Tool Man and Amos.

Amos was the largest calf in his age group and continues to be a very large-bodied animal. His spike antlers were merely straight spikes, proof again of the inconsistency in predicting development from spike antlers. Amos grew a very impressive 2-year-old set of hard antlers that scored 267 7/8 SCI.

Amos carries an incredible symmetry aspect that is not credited, yet can be seen in his photo on this page. His 3-year-old antlers scored 333 5/8 SCI and placed him 3rd at the International Antler Competition and 2nd at the North Central Region.

Amos' again carried hard antlers in 2000 and scored an unofficial 340 7/8 SCI. His antler characteristics demonstrate symmetry, heavy beam development and exceptional tine length in the 4-5th tines.

Amos is fairly agressive during the rut and has proven himself an excellent breeder. Amos is a joy to work, as he enters the chute calmly and walks out each time. He has some calves that are looking outstanding in body and antler growth.
